This
was Bay Bimmerz first meet, which turned out to no only
be a huge success, but one of the biggest.
We had over 45
BMWs show up.
All models were represented from a 1974 2002tii
to a full e39 Dinan Supercharged 540i.
It was an event that
almost did not take place after the downpour that occurred
the night before.
Once the morning came the
clouds were separating and the sun began to shine through.
We began out meet at Cal State Hayward over looking
the Bay.
We were really unsure if anyone was going to
show, but one by one BMWs began to secure the parking
lot. Being
on top of the
Campus at Hayward, you can hear the distinctive sound
of exhaust and motor climbing up the steep hill making
their way to the
lot. Cars
pulled in non-stop for a good 30 minutes.
After everyone had time to check out each other’s
cars, we began to absorb
what we had just started.
We hit the road. Coming down the hill and hearing a Dinan 540I at full throttle
is an experience one
can never forget.
We drove through Niles Canyon Road along the
river with the water rushing from all the rain and all
the hillsides
bright green.
Once on the freeway every single lane was taken
over by Ultimate Driving Machines.
Groups were traveling at
speeds up to 140 mph as well as groups just cruising
and enjoying the sites at 65 mph.
We ended our drive at Black Hawk Auto
Museum and dominated the entire parking lot, while stares
penetrated from the Porsche club also there.
We then took our tours
of the museum and enjoyed such beauties as the BMW 507
among others.
This
was our first meet and was the dawn of something that
would take place once a month.
Seeing the excitement and
enthusiasm of everyone proved that Bay Bimmerz had officially
begun and would continue to provide an event once a
month for
years to come for all BMW enthusiasts.
